Post your sign in a conspicuous place around the entrance of your home, residence, or business.

Info Needed To File Solicitor Report

In the event that a solicitor knocks on your door, take down this information or enter it directly into our online reporting form:

This is information that every solicitor is required to give, and if they are legally registered with your city, can be found on their ID badge which they should be wearing. These badges might either be company or state issued.

The more information you’re able to gather the better. Additional info about the company, their website, where they’re located, etc. Information is power.

Reporting Tips

Read Between The Lines

Sales reps are often deceptive about their intentions. They may deny trying to sell you anything and even claim to be marketers or deflect in some other way.

It may even be difficult to immediately know what company a sales rep works for. Some door-to-door sales companies will show logos of larger, well-known companies that they have little to no affiliation with to deceive prospective customers. For example, the sales rep in this picture actually works for Global Alarm Protection, not GE or SafeGuard America.

Pay close attention and ask the rep specifically what company pays their checks and where their headquarters are located.

Collect Information

Collect as much relevant information as you can for your report; name, company, rep ID#, and any specific details about the incident (for example if there was any deceptive sales tactics, inappropriate language, forcefulness, etc.) Ask lots of questions, you’re in charge.

Copy the information as a note in your phone, on a piece of paper, or even directly into our reporting form while they’re at the door.

Take Photos

Pictures can make information so much easier to get. If the solicitor has an ID badge you can take a picture of their ID badge with your phone. You can even take a picture of their face and uniform. If you’re not comfortable taking pictures without permission then ask if you can take photos of them and their badge. If they don’t run off they’ll likely consent.

Photos that you take of the ID badge or the sales rep may be sent to our email, report@lastknock.com after you submit your solicitor report.

Backup Plan

If a rep is unwilling to give you their name or company information, or you are unable to get the information from an ID badge we recommend that you tell the sales rep that you are reporting them to Last Knock and that you are calling the police immediately.

After which, call your local police department’s non-emergency number and submit any information you were able to gather in a solicitor report.

Use The Brand

Above all, always make sure that the rep knows that you will be reporting them to Last Knock, and that we will be reporting them to the city, local police, and may be subject to fines & criminal charges. Also, tell them that their company will be reported by Last Knock as well.

Sales reps will often flee a neighborhood at the mention of police and simply aren’t used to any type of repercussions for knocking on a door.
